Arrest made in death of Korn concert attendee
Police in Atlanta have arrested the man they believe to be responsible for the beating death of an attendee at a Family Values tour stop there last month. Authorities charged Michael Scott Axley with the July 30th assault on, and subsequent murder of, Andrew Richardson at the Hi Fi Buys Amphitheater. According to those who saw the attack, Richardson asked Axley to be careful around his pregnant girlfriend and a mentally challenged child accompanying them. Axley allegedly then punched Richardson in the head with the force of the blow sending him head-first into the concrete. Richardson never regained consciousness and was declared brain dead, succumbing to his injuries a day later on August 1st.
Korn and the rest of the bands on the Family Values tour issued a joint statement immediately following the death which read: "All the bands on the Family Values tour offer their sincerest condolences and prayers to the (family) Andy Richardson. Korn are appalled at (these) actions."
The Family Values tour, which also features Deftones, Stone Sour, 10 Years and others, resumes August 15th in Englewood, Colorado. Korn has a series of solo shows prior to the tour resuming.
