Beatles "Love" special headed to TV
Access Hollywood will air an hour long, primetime special featuring a in-depth look into the The Beatles' LOVE, the group's musical collaboration with Cirque du Soleil now running in Las Vegas. The special, titled The Beatles' "LOVE" By Cirque du Soleil, features exclusive interviews with surviving Beatles Paul McCartney and Ringo Starr, along with John Lennon and George Harrison's widows, Yoko Ono and Olivia Harrison.
The TV special begins airing on August 19th on various NBC-TV affiliates. In early September, it will run on non-NBC stations who show Access Hollywood. Check your local listings for Access Hollywood stations and times.
The special also includes footage of the group's legendary producer George Martin and his son Giles mixing the musical's soundtrack at London's Abbey Road Studios, using the Fab Four's original master tapes. They are currently re-mixing the soundtrack for commercial release later this year.
The LOVE musical is now running in Las Vegas at The Mirage Hotel.
Paul McCartney's lead guitarist Rusty Anderson told us that apart from their music, the Fab Four continue to be a major cultural force: "If there ever is a group of musicians and a force and a sonic sound and a style and a lyrical point of view and everything that sort of sums up something -- it was the Beatles."
