Breaking Benjamin singer spills the secret of band's success
Breaking Benjamin had the biggest sales week and highest chart debut of its career last week when its third album, Phobia, debuted at Number Two in the Billboard Top 200 with first-week sales of over 131,000 copies. Frontman and chief songwriter Ben Burnley told us that he thinks he knows the secret to the band's success: "I like to write songs that I like, you know what I mean, and then it just so happens that the public likes it too, you know. I mean, I don't get, like, too, too artsy with it or anything like that. Just cool riffs, good melody, good lyrical content, slap it all together and you've got yourself a record (laughs)."
Phobia was released on August 8th. The initial pressing of the album featured two different versions of the first single, "The Diary Of Jane."
Breaking Benjamin plays tonight (Tuesday, August 22nd) in Jackson, Mississippi, with Evans Blue and Dropping Daylight warming up the crowd.
