David Bowie to perform at AIDS benefit in New York
David Bowie will take part in a benefit show this fall in New York City to raise money for AIDS treatments worldwide. The Keep A Child Alive Annual Black Ball will be held November 9th at the Hammerstein Ballroom, and the singer will do "a couple of songs" at the event, according to his website. Bowie has also been photographed for a poster for the Keep A Child Alive organization, in which he's seen with an orange stripe down the middle of his face. The text on the poster reads, "I Am African. Help us to stop the dying. Pay for lifesaving AIDS drugs that can keep a child, a mother, a father, a family alive. Visit keepachildalive.org to help."The event will be co-hosted by Bowie's wife Iman and R&B singer-pianist Alicia Keys.
