Def Leppard: Yeah!

As one of only five bands with two albums selling over 10 million copies in the US ("Pyromania" -1983, "Hysteria" - 1987) and as a band that pioneered the 80's MTV-driven "pop metal" culture, Def Leppard's appeal has surprisingly not followed the recent trend of renewed interest in classic rock bands.

Despite being their first album in four years, "Yeah!" is a covers-only album that pays tribute to their musical heroes of the 70's.

The songs range from the catchy "20th Century Boy" (T-Rex - 1973) to the classic "Don't Believe A Word" (Thin Lizzy - 1977) and while most songs are good reproductions of the originals, nothing new is on offer here. Also, although fast paced songs such as "Hanging On The Telephone (Blondie - 1978)" are mastered well enough, slower songs such as "10538 Overture" (Electric Light Orchestra - 1972) reveal Joe Elliot's ageing vocals.
