George Harrison's son says Yellow Submarine holds bad childhood memories
Unlike most kids, who grew up loving the Beatles' song "Yellow Submarine," for George Harrison's son it was nothing short of torture. Harrison's 28-year-old son Dhani (pronounced Danny) told Britain's ES Magazine that "I was always brutally teased for being George Harrison's son. That was from the age of about four or five, before I even knew who he was. And for seven years people would follow me about school singing 'Yellow Submarine.' I still can't listen to that song to this day."
Dhani added that all of the Beatles' kids get along very well, saying that, "We're like an extended family. But the one I see most is probably Stella McCartney."
According to a 1987 George Harrison interview with Musician magazine, when Dhani was a child he asked him to teach him the opening riff to another Yellow Submarine song, "Hey Bulldog," on the piano.
Dhani graduated from Brown University in 2000 has launched a musical career fronting the new band Thenewno2 ("The New No Two"). Although the group is still working on their debut album, several songs and videos can be accessed through their website, thenewno2.com.
