Killers guitarist haunted by unwanted guest during video shoot
The Killers' video for their new single, "When You Were Young," was shot in the tiny Mexican mountain town of Tlayacapan, two hours south of Mexico City. While the band enjoyed filming the clip in the beautiful and ancient town, guitarist Dave Keuning told us he wasn't quite so keen on the unwanted guest in his hotel room: "It was in the reptile family, and it moved fast. I was almost asleep and I saw a mark on the wall that I didn't think was there before, and I just was staring at it for like a minute. And then it ran around the room. You know, it just took off. These lizards are quick. And I couldn't deal with that, so I left and got a room, like, three stories up or something."
The video premiered last week online and on MTV.
"When You Were Young" is taken from the Killers' second album, Sam's Town, which arrives on October 3rd.
The Las Vegas-based quartet is scheduled to perform at the 2006 MTV Video Music Awards on Thursday, August 31st.
The Killers will begin a North American tour in support of Sam's Town on October 6th in Los Angeles, wrapping up at the end of the month at the Vegoose Festival in the band's hometown of Las Vegas on October 28th.
