Mark Knopfler up for Bluegrass music award
Mark Knopfler has been nominated for a Song Of The Year award, but it's not for one of his recordings. Knopfler has been cited by the International Bluegrass Music Association for his song "Marbletown," which was covered last year by the group Blue Highway. If the title sounds familiar, that's because Knopfler originally recorded and released "Marbletown" on his 2002 album The Ragpicker's Dream. It's unknown at this time whether the singer/guitarist will attend the International Bluegrass Music Association awards ceremony, which will be held September 28th in Nashville. In related news, the former Dire Straits frontman is getting ready to release a new single from his album All The Roadrunning, which he recorded with country legend Emmylou Harris. The track "Beachcombing" will come out exclusively through iTunes on August 28th.
