Mars Volta ready to tour with Red Hot Chili Peppers
The beginning of the Red Hot Chili Peppers' North American tour on Friday, August 11th, in Portland, Oregon, will also mark the start of the Mars Volta's latest road trek. The group, led by former At The Drive-In members Omar Rodriguez-Lopez and Cedric Bixler-Zavala, will open for the Chili Peppers throughout the 34-date tour, and Lopez told us that he expects it to be an enjoyable experience: "With those guys, we're all good friends and they're into the things that makes touring and playing music really exciting, which is just simply good music, learning about new films, and good food. For us it's just gonna be a real nice time."
The Mars Volta's third album, Amputechture, comes out September 12th. Chili Peppers guitarist John Frusciante is among the players who contribute to Amputechture.
The tour wraps up November 5th in St. Paul, Minnesota.
