Mick Jagger admits to taking vocal lessons

Mick Jagger has revealed that after years of performing without any training, he began taking voice lessons. Britain's The Independent reported that Jagger, who's currently on the road with the Rolling Stones, told Virgin Radio that it was, "Better late than never. I did a bit of voice coaching a couple of years ago, after 35 years with none. A bit of coaching and warm-ups... (It) really helps. I always tell these younger singers: 'I never used to do it either, but you should.'"

Jagger, noted for his consistent energy throughout the Stones' average two-hour shows, went on to add that vocal cords are just like any other muscle: "I mean, you sing a lot; every night you are singing for hours and hours and your voice gets tired; like anything, like running every night. That's why you have to warm up properly."

The Stones were due to perform on Monday, August 14th, in Valladolid, Spain but had to cancel the gig because Mick lost his voice due to laryngitis. They'll kick off their upcoming North American tour on September 20th in Foxboro, Massachusetts.
