My Chemical Romance second US act to get bottled in the UK
My Chemical Romance was pelted with bottles and other objects during the band's set at the Reading Festival in England on Sunday (August 27th). The New Jersey-based group was the second American emo-punk act to get bottled by British festival crowds over the weekend, with Panic! At The Disco singer Brendan Urie getting smacked in the head on Friday (August 25th). Like Panic! At The Disco, My Chemical Romance bravely continued its set, although the constant barrage visibly upset frontman Gerard Way.
Way asked the crowd to boo at one point, saying, "We might be outsiders today, but we represent every outsider out there."
He then introduced the band's next number by saying, "This song is called thanks for all the bottles, thanks for all the piss, thanks for all the golf balls, thanks for all the apples and thanks for all the sticky shit."
My Chemical Romance is playing some shows in advance of the October 24th release of its new album, The Black Parade. The band will perform on the MTV Video Music Awards pre-show on Thursday night (August 31st).
Meanwhile, Brendan Urie said he's "feeling good" after getting hit on Friday, adding, "I'm doing all right now. I could be way worse, I could be dead...I've got a bruise, but it looks good. It makes me look rugged and tough."
