Paul McCartney's wife hires Princess Diana's divorce lawyer
The battle between Paul McCartney and estranged wife Heather Mills may be turning worse. Britain's Telegraph reported that Heather has hired the late Princess Diana's divorce attorney, Anthony Julius. Last month, Paul hired Prince Charles' lawyer, Fiona Shackleton, to lead his legal team. The stakes for the McCartney's divorce may be higher than for the Windsor's 1996 split. Princess Diana was awarded a substantial settlement of $32 million, but insiders are speculating that Heather might be entitled to as much as a third of Paul's reported $1.5 billion fortune.
Over the past few weeks, Paul has cut off contact with Heather, only allowing her on his various properties when he is away and demanding 20 minutes notice before she leaves, so that they never need to cross paths.
The McCartneys, who separated in May, have taken to using intermediaries when dealing with custody tradeoffs of their two-year old daughter, Beatrice.
Last weekend, Heather, arriving early to Paul's London townhouse, was mistaken for an intruder by Paul's domestic staff who were not expecting her and who then called local police on her.
A source close to Heather told The Mirror that Heather feels that Paul is trying to damage her reputation, explaining that, "Heather is convinced Paul is trying to blacken her name and is becoming increasingly upset. He hasn't even apologized for getting his security team to call in police."
According to several sources, Paul, who after the separation lambasted the press for calling Heather a gold-digger, has turned against her after she agreed to a "quickie divorce" payout of about $30 million and then reneged on the offer.
