Pink Floyd guitar solo voted best ever
David Gilmour's playing on the Pink Floyd song "Comfortably Numb" has been voted the best guitar solo ever, in a new UK survey. Listeners to the Planet Rock radio station were asked to submit their favorite solos, and "Comfortably Numb" topped the list, followed by "Sweet Child O' Mine" by Guns N' Roses. The rest of the Top Five included "Free Bird" by Lynyrd Skynyrd, "Eruption" by Van Halen, and "November Rain" by Guns N' Roses. The voting, of course, was not scientific, and no official awards will be presented based on the results.Jimi Hendrix didn't make an appearance on the list until Number 12, with "All Along The Watchtower," and Eric Clapton's first entry was at Number 16, with his playing on Cream's "Crossroads."
