Radiohead singer says Tony Blair must be thrown out
Radiohead singer Thom Yorke has posted a message at the band's official website demanding that British Prime Minister Tony Blair resign or be removed from office. Yorke wrote that he's "had enough" of Blair's performance during the current Middle East crisis, saying, "Our government (is) sitting on the fence with the U.S. while World War 3 appears to be breaking out in Lebanon and Northern Israel. We must throw Tony Blair out of office NOW. He does not represent the views of British people. He does not represent the views of his foreign office and officials. He does not even represent the views of those in his cabinet. He cares too much about his relationship with (George) Bush and (Rupert) Murdoch. This man is not fit to be our Prime Minister."
Yorke has expressed his displeasure with Blair on numerous occasions before.
The singer recently told U.K. newspaper The Globe and Mail that he named his debut solo album The Eraser because of his feelings that England is going through a "dark period" in its history.
The Eraser arrived in stores on July 11th and has sold 146,000 copies since its release.
Radiohead has some festival dates planned for this month and may or may not be working on its seventh studio album.
