Red Hot Chili Peppers start N. American tour
After performing at last weekend's Lollapalooza festival in Chicago, the Red Hot Chili Peppers kicked off a 38-date North American tour on Friday, August 11th, at the Rose Garden Arena in Portland, Oregon. With a new two-CD set, Stadium Arcadium, out this year, the group has plenty of material to choose from, and drummer Chad Smith told us that the group has worked hard on its repertoire for the tour: "We've been playing about 10 or 12 new songs but, obviously, we put in, like, six of them on any given night, and another 10 or 12 of the old chestnuts and, yeah, it's difficult to keep everybody, 'How come you don't play da, da, da...' Well, come to Minneapolis, we'll play... We can't do 'em all."
The Chili Peppers wrap up their North American tour on November 5th in St. Paul, Minnesota. The group has four European shows scheduled for late November and early December.
Stadium Arcadium debuted at Number One on the Billboard 200 chart in May. It currently sits at Number 19 and has been certified platinum.
