Rolling Stones confirm Churchill Downs show
It's official -- the Rolling Stones are headed to the home of the Kentucky Derby. The band will play the Churchill Downs racetrack in Louisville on September 29th, marking their first gig in the city since the Steel Wheels tour back in 1989. There's already speculation as to whether the Stones will play the Sticky Fingers track "Dead Flowers" in Louisville, with its line about "Making bets on Kentucky Derby Day."Unlike most other shows on the tour, this one was pretty much a closely guarded secret. The Louisville newspaper The Courier-Journal reported that negotiations actually began last October.
The Rolling Stones continued the European leg of their A Bigger Bang world tour on Tuesday, August 8th, in Nice, France. North American dates begin September 20th in Foxboro, Massachusetts.
