Rolling Stones to play Kentucky
It looks like the Rolling Stones will add at least two more shows to their fall North American schedule. An announcement will be made on Monday, August 7th, in Louisville, Kentucky, about the Stones playing at Churchill Downs racetrack, which is the home of the Kentucky Derby, the first leg in thoroughbred racing's Triple Crown. According to the usually reliable Rolling Stones Fan Club Of Europe, the show will take place between dates in East Rutherford, New Jersey, and Wichita, Kansas. There's also talk in Hawaii that the Stones will play there, possibly on November 23rd, which is Thanksgiving Day. There's been no official word, but radio station KPOI-FM in Honolulu is reporting that the Stones will end their North American tour at Aloha Stadium there. According to the Honolulu Star-Bulletin newspaper, stadium management said nothing's been confirmed.
It should also be noted that there are a number of football games scheduled at the stadium in the days immediately following the proposed concert, which casts a further shadow on the Thanksgiving Day rumor. Local promoter Tom Moffatt said, "With those football games already scheduled, they obviously can't play that holiday weekend. But we would love to do the concert."
