Strokes guitarist stepping out on his own

Strokes guitarist Albert Hammond Jr. will release his first solo album this fall, according to NME.com. Titled Yours To Keep, the 10-track collection will feature guest appearances from Sean Lennon, Ben Kweller, Strokes manager Ryan Gentles and others. A tentative release date of October 9th in Europe and October 10th in the U.S. is currently in the works.

The Strokes will open some shows for Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers during Petty's fall tour. The band will appear at the trek's two-night kick-off on September 14th and 15th in Chicago, and have confirmed four more dates with Petty following the Chicago gigs.

The shows with Petty will weave in and out of headlining dates scheduled through early October.

The Strokes are on tour in Australia and New Zealand at the moment.

The group is supporting its third album, First Impressions of Earth, released earlier this year. The latest single from the disc is "You Only Live Once."
