Supernova fails to settle with reality show producers, files for injuction
Southern California punk band Supernova has filed a preliminary injunction to stop the supergroup on the CBS-TV reality show Supernova from using their name. The suit was filed on Friday (August 11th), after the band and CBS failed to settle the matter out of court. The band had initially sued CBS, the show's producers, and the members of the supergroup in July.
The original band Supernova was formed in Orange County, California in 1989, and have released three albums. Their highest profile appearance has been on the soundtrack to the film Clerks.
The reality show band named Supernova includes former Metallica bassist Jason Newsted, ex-Guns N' Roses guitarist Gilby Clarke, and Motley Crue drummer Tommy Lee, and a singer to be found during the course of the show.
