System Of A Down drummer getting comical on hiatus

System Of A Down drummer John Dolmayan will launch an online comic book store called TorpedoComics.com as System goes on hiatus for the next couple of years. Dolmayan told us about his initial plans for the store and why he decided on such a project: "Right now I have about seven million books, comic books, and by the time it goes online in November of 2007, we'll have approximately 20 million books available for sale. It's just a hobby that I've had for, you know, 20, 22 years. It's also gonna include a lot of pop culture stuff later on, like autographs, toys, collectibles of many different varieties. But it's a lot of work (laughs)."

System Of A Down's "indefinite" hiatus began with the completion of its co-headlining run on Ozzfest last week.

Frontman Serj Tankian will record his debut solo album and also plans to work with several new bands on his Serjical Strike label.

Guitarist Daron Malakian and bassist Shavo Odadjian will work together in a new group called Scars On Broadway, while Odadjian is also collaborating with the Wu-Tang Clan and plans to direct a feature film.

The band has insisted that it is not breaking up, but has not set a timetable for getting back together or making a new album.
