Tom Morello calls Audioslave video "a collage of heroes and influences"

Audioslave's latest video, for the track "Original Fire," features stock footage of such "influential rebels" as the Clash, Latin-American revolutionary Che Guevara, Malcolm X, NBA superstar Shaquille O'Neal, and Evel Knievel. Guitarist Tom Morello told us about the thinking behind the video, and what the band was aiming for: "Basically a collage of our heroes and influences. You know, musically, culturally, and politically. And who it is that helps us to be the musicians and the band that we are today. From Randy Rhoads to Nelson Mandela. From Joe Strummer to James Brown. You know, like some of the icons of each individual bandmember and of the band as a whole. And we have kind of collaged and psychedelically swirling around in the video while we rock."

Audioslave's new album Revelations will be released on September 5th, and the band is expected to tour in 2007.
