Aerosmith singer vs Hepatitis C
The throat and heel problems that Aerosmith frontman Steven Tyler had surgically corrected earlier this year aren't the only health issues he's dealing with. Tyler is due to appear on the tabloid TV show Access Hollywood on Tuesday, September 26th, and admit to battling Hepatitis C. According to the New York Daily News, Tyler tells Access host Nancy O'Dell, "I've had Hepatitis C for a long time, asymptomatic... The band took a break (from August 2004 to September 2005)... (and my doctor) said now is the time, and it's 11 months of (interferon therapy), so I went on that, and it about killed me." He adds, "(The disease) is nonexistent in my bloodstream... where it's like a complete cure."Between the singer's medical problems, drummer Joey Kramer's rotator cuff surgery last year, and bassist Tom Hamilton's current battle with throat cancer, it would be easy for the band to think about hanging it up. But lead guitarist Joe Perry told us it's full steam ahead, so long as everyone is up to the task: "I definitely think we're gonna do a, a studio record next spring and then tour again, and try and do a, a world tour next late spring, you know, early summer, you know, go to Europe, do Japan, and then come back and go indoors in the States again behind another record. I think we can keep going for quite a while -- I think it's gonna depend on how everybody holds up."
Tyler was a guest star on Monday, September 25th, on the CBS sitcom Two And A Half Men.
Aerosmith is currently on the Route Of All Evil tour with Motley Crue, and their next stop is tonight for the first of two shows at the Tweeter Center in Mansfield, Massachusetts.
Aerosmith's got a new greatest-hits collection titled Devil's Got A New Disguise that's due October 17th.
