AFI feels the chill of winter
A.F.I.'s new single and video, "Love Like Winter," continues the cold-weather themes running through the band's latest CD, Decemberunderground. Singer Davey Havok told us that those concepts can be found not only in the songs, but the band's artwork, videos and even past albums: "You'll see ties throughout the record that make it cohesive. I mean, the winter references and the cold references really relate to the cold feeling of the record, and the coldness and the detachment. There are threads that run through a lot of what we do, whether it's in the lyrics itself, or in the music, or whether it goes beyond into the imagery or our stage show or our videos. There are threads that run through a lot of what we do that connect pretty much everything."
The video for "Love Like Winter" takes place in a snow-covered forest and was reportedly inspired by similar settings in Kill Bill and Sleepy Hollow.
A.F.I.'s previous video, for "Miss Murder," won Best Rock Video at the 2006 MTV Video Music Awards last month.
A.F.I. announced that it will play four or five East Coast club dates in late October and early November, beginning on October 30th in Sayreville, New Jersey. The band is planning a full U.S. trek for early next year.
