AFI nominated for chainsaw awards
A.F.I. has been nominated for two Fuse/Fangoria Chainsaw Awards, according to the band's official website. Lead singer Davey Havok is up for Prince of Darkness, meaning the darkest male artist in a music video, while the band's clip for "Miss Murder" is nominated for Femme Fatale for the most evil female character in a video. Voting online closes on Friday, October 13th, with the awards ceremony scheduled to air on the Fuse music channel on Sunday, October 22nd at 9:30 p.m. ET.
The Chainsaw Awards have been running for years in the pages of horror film and entertainment magazine Fangoria. This is their first incarnation as a live event.
Other movie-related categories include best film, best death scene, best villain, highest body count and bloodiest beatdown.
Additional music nominees include the Raconteurs, the Red Hot Chili Peppers, Gnarls Barkley, Evanescence, 30 Seconds To Mars and Avenged Sevenfold.
A.F.I. plays on Friday (September 15th) in Long Beach, California before heading overseas for a brief European trek. The band has not yet announced its fall tour plans for North America.
The group continues to support its latest album, Decemberunderground, which debuted at Number One on the Billboard Top 200 back in June.
A.F.I. recently began an eBay auction of skatedecks, concert tickets and other merchandise to raise money for the group's friend Jim Miner, who is need of an operation.
