Alice Cooper stripping down to open for the Rolling Stones
The Rolling Stones pull into Halifax, Nova Scotia, on Saturday, September 23rd, for a big outdoor show in the Halifax Commons public park. Fans will get the band's full set, as well as performances by a variety of opening acts, including the Canadian rock band Sloan, who are from Halifax; hip-hop star Kanye West; and Alice Cooper. The shock rock legend told us that opening for the Stones means he'll do a much different show than he usually does, without all his usual props: "You have to just play rock-and-roll, so we're playing, like, an hour of Alice Cooper rock-and-roll. Now, it'll be theatrical, 'cause Alice is gonna be theatrical no matter what -- it just won't be the normal flow of an Alice Cooper show. And it'll be just great." Alice will open for the Stones two more times -- next Friday (September 29th) at the Churchill Downs horse racing track in Louisville, Kentucky, and on November 8th at Cardinals Stadium in Glendale, Arizona.
Saturday is also the official kickoff for Cooper's own fall tour.
