Alice In Chains looking forward to new tour

Alice In Chains will open its 40-city North American tour this Friday (September 22nd) in Las Vegas, Nevada. The reunited band has played just a small amount of U.S. shows since coming back onto the scene last spring. Drummer Sean Kinney told us what he's seen that has surprised him the most since the band's return: "A lot of younger people. You know, we kind of walked away from it, and it's cool to see, from my perspective, there's a lot of younger kids re-finding it. They could have grew up with the tunes, but I don't know, like, if they actually, I don't know if we're on the MTVs and stuff like that, I don't really watch it. But a lot of the audience is a real mix of people and there's a lot of younger kids, you know, they're totally into it. And that's like, 'Wow, you know, it hasn't gone away.'"

Alice In Chains' fall tour will end on November 26th in San Francisco, California. The trek follows an initial six-city U.S. run last spring, a stretch of European summer festival slots and scattered Stateside dates last month.

Singer William DuVall will continue to handle lead vocals for the band. DuVall fronts his own act, Comes With The Fall, and has also performed in Jerry Cantrell's solo band.

There is no word yet on whether the band will record any new material.

Hurt will be the sole opening act on the entire tour. The group continues to support its debut album, Volume 1, which came out in March and features the singles "Rapture" and "Falls Apart."
