Arctic Monkeys lead Woodie nominations
Arctic Monkeys top the list of nominees for the third annual mtvU Woodie Awards. The British quartet landed three nods, tying them with Imogen Heap, in the categories of Breaking Woodie for new artist, Streaming Woodie for the most downloaded act, and the self-explanatory International Woodie. The event, which honors artists that are liked by college audiences, will be held on October 25th in New York City and broadcast on November 2nd on the mtvU college network and mtvU.com.
Other artists nominated in various categories include Panic! At The Disco for Woodie of the Year, Gnarls Barkley and Wolfmother for Left Field Woodie, 30 Seconds To Mars and the Raconteurs for Best Live Video Woodie, and A.F.I. and the Red Hot Chili Peppers for Alumni Woodie.
Winners will be selected from the more than 50 nominees through online voting. All votes must be cast by October 20th.
My Chemical Romance scored big at last year's ceremony, taking home Woodie of the Year.
