Bob Seger says time off made for better album
When Bob Seger's new album called Face The Promise comes out next Tuesday (September 12th), it will be his first set of all-new material in 11 years. But Seger was always writing and recording in that time, and he thinks the long wait has resulted in a record that he couldn't have made previously. Seger told The New York Times, "I think the songs are better because I kept pushing myself to be a better writer. I had a tendency to use too much metaphor, but this writing is clearer, less vague, more matter-of-fact."
Seger also told the Times that his induction into the Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame back in 2004 made him work even more on Face The Promise. He said, "That was a big spike, I've got to admit. I wanted to deserve it with this album, so I started working harder. I thought, 'If they're gonna put me in the Hall Of Fame, I better at least make a decent record.' I wanted to make sure to leave some blood on the page."
Seger is expected to tour behind Face The Promise, and the official announcement could come any day now.
