Coldplay singer jams with rapper Jay-Z
Coldplay vocalist Chris Martin will reportedly join rapper Jay-Z onstage tomorrow night (Wednesday, September 27th) at London's Royal Albert Hall, according to NME.com. Martin has formed a friendship with the formerly retired rapper and has written and produced a track for his comeback album, Kingdom Come, due out in November. There's no word on whether the unlikely duo will perform that song or something else at the show, for which tickets are still available.
Meanwhile, Gigwise.com reported that Martin turned down a chance to sing on Justin Timberlake's smash new album, FutureSex/LoveSounds. Timberlake said in a TV interview that he approached Martin about appearing on the disc, only to be told that "he won't sing on anything but Coldplay stuff." Timberlake added, "I respect him and I hate him for that."
Seems like Martin was bending the truth a bit, since he did record a duet with Nelly Furtado for her latest effort, Loose, only for it to be yanked from the final track listing before the CD hit the streets.
