First-ever Nirvana DVD coming in November
Nirvana will release its first-ever stand-alone DVD on November 14th, according to NirvanaClub.com. The disc, called Live! Tonight! Sold Out!, is a reissue of the home video that was originally released on VHS and laserdisc in November of 1994. The project, which was initiated by frontman Kurt Cobain but only completed after his death, chronicled the hysteria that surrounded the band in 1991 and '92 following the release of the Nevermind album. The video features concert performances, interviews and behind-the-scenes footage, all of which have been cleaned up and remastered for the DVD release, which will also boast remastered sound.Bonus footage will also be included, but details about it have not been revealed yet.
Bassist Krist Novoselic and drummer Dave Grohl oversaw the original release's completion with director Kevin Kerslake after Cobain's death.
Nirvana's only previous DVD was a disc included with the 2004 box set, With The Lights Out.
A bootleg DVD of Live! Tonight! Sold Out! emerged from Brazil in 2003.
