Foo Fighters frontman will honour promise to miners
Foo Fighters frontman Dave Grohl said that he plans to keep his promise to buy beers for two Australian miners who listened to Foo Fighters while trapped underground for nearly two weeks, according to Jam! Music. Miners Brant Webb and Todd Russell listened to Foo Fighters songs as they waited for rescuers to dig them out of a collapsed mine shaft last May. Grohl was informed of this and sent a message to the miners, telling them to keep their spirits up and promising them beers and tickets to a Foos show when they got out.Grohl told the Australian Broadcasting Corporation that he plans to meet the men when Foo Fighters tours Australia this October, saying, "You know what? I'm not just having one beer with those dudes -- we're going for it. This is going to be a big night." A spokesperson for the miners said, "I'm sure they will be very keen to meet him."
Foo Fighters will wraped up its first-ever acoustic tour on Saturday, September 2nd, in Santa Barbara, California, but the group will play seven more unplugged gigs in North America as openers for Bob Dylan, beginning on October 29th in St. Paul, Minnesota.
The band played acoustically on Friday, September 1st, on The Tonight Show with Jay Leno.
