Hall & Oates to release Christmas album
Daryl Hall and John Oates will release their first holiday album, titled, Home For Christmas, on October 30th. Hall explained that the duo is proud of the project saying that, "We wanted to do an album that expressed the true spirit of Christmas, that of peace, traditions, family and friends coming together. The songs (are) adapted to our style (and) are about ecstasy, grace, poignancy, love and, of course, soul."
John Oates added that, "Recording an album of Christmas songs has always been something we've dreamed about. We're hoping this record can help make others' dreams come true, too."
Portions from the sale of the album will benefit the U.S. Marine Corps charity Toys for Tots. Hall and Oates will also serve as spokesmen for the 2006 Toys For Tots fundraising campaign.
Among the holiday classics featured on Home For Christmas are:
"The First Noel," "It Came Upon A Midnight Clear," "The Christmas Song," "Mary Had A Baby," "Oh Holy Night" and a re-recording of "Jingle Bell Rock," which was a holiday hit for the duo back in 1983. Hall and Oates also wrote two new songs for the album, "Home For Christmas" and "No Child Should Ever Cry On Christmas."
John Oates told us that he's amazed that he and Hall are still together well into their fourth decade together: "It feels good though. You know, it doesn't feel forced, doesn't feel too overwhelming. I think we've all come to grips with how to make it work in our life, how to tour, how to continue touring without killing yourself and burning out, how to make records and how to integrate the whole thing."
Daryl Hall and John Oates perform tonight (Friday, September 8th) in Niagara Falls, New York at the Seneca Niagara Casino.
