Rolling Stones kick off new American tour
The Rolling Stones are back for another round of North American dates on their A Bigger Bang world tour. They kick things off on Wednesday, September 20th, at Gillette Stadium in Foxboro, Massachusetts, and most of the shows will be in football stadium-sized venues. Guitarist Ronnie Wood told us he's pleased that the Stones can create an intimate vibe in a huge building: "The great thing is, is to get that interplay with them, and that feel with them. I mean, I do prefer clubs myself, but it doesn't matter -- you can get that club feel from a massive audience." The Stones wrap up their current string of dates on November 18th in Los Angeles, and Wood recently told billboard.com that the band will likely do some shows in Europe next year, to make up for all the cancellations due to Keith Richards' and Mick Jagger's health issues.
Wood's got a new best-of set coming out next Tuesday (September 26th) called Anthology: The Essential Crossexion, which includes music from his solo releases along with tracks from the Jeff Beck Group, the Faces, the Stones, and others.
