Ronnie Wood releases career spanning anthology
Out on Tuesday, September 26th, is a double-CD entitled Anthology: The Essential Crossexion, which has highlights from Ronnie Wood's four-plus decades as a professional musician. Wood told us it's a really good way to get into the different kinds of music he's made throughout his career: "I just thought this was a good enough way to start, you know, to start with my first band the Birds, and go through little mistakes like the Creation -- which are quite good fun to listen to -- and great things like the Jeff Beck Group, where I first was playing bass, then going through the Faces, and the Rod Stewart years, and my solo stuff, and going on to the Stones, and (the) few songs they did allow me to co-write with them." The guitarist also told us that this is the first in what will be a series of releases, though there's no timetable for any of the other albums.
Wood and his Rolling Stones bandmates hit Giants Stadium in East Rutherford, New Jersey, on Wednesday, September 27th. Hip-hop star Kanye West is the opening act for the show.
