Snow Patrol gets "Anatomy" lesson
Snow Patrol frontman Gary Lightbody told AOL Music that he thinks the use of the UK band's single "Chasing Cars" on the season two finale of the ABC drama Grey's Anatomy has played a tremendous role in making the tune into a hit. Lightbody said, "It's very strange to have people coming to the band just on the back of one song, 'cause we're very much an albums band and we want to win people over with our live show or whole record rather than some TV show they saw. (But ) if people come along because of that, then we'll win them over."
Snow Patrol re-edited the video for "Chasing Cars" to include footage from the episode. The song also appears on the recently released Grey's Anatomy soundtrack album.
Despite owing at least part of its U.S. success to the series, Lightbody admitted that he's not really a fan, explaining, "I haven't really seen it. It only started in the U.K. around the same time as the season finale of the second season (in the U.S.) so it's kind of a new show for me. It looks pretty good. I saw the first episode and it looks like it could heat up."
For non-Grey's fans, "Chasing Cars" can be found on the group's latest album, Eyes Open. The band is touring in support of the disc and can be examined on Tuesday, September 26th, in Los Angeles.
