Velvet Revolver singer plays surprise show

Velvet Revolver vocalist Scott Weiland played a solo show at the Legends of Notre Dame club in Notre Dame, Indiana on Friday night (September 8th), reports Blabbermouth.net. Weiland was accompanied only by his partner Douglas Grean, with whom he co-owns a studio in Los Angeles. The singer played two new solo songs, titled "Killing Me Sweetly" and "Beautiful Day," in addition to some other solo numbers, a Stone Temple Pilots track and a cover of the Marshall Tucker Band's "Desert Skies."

Weiland's father reportedly played football for Notre Dame University.

One fan posted online that the show was "phenomenal" and that Weiland's voice sounded "great."

"Beautiful Day" is tentatively slated to appear on the soundtrack of the upcoming movie Bug, which will also feature a song by Audioslave vocalist Chris Cornell.

Velvet Revolver is reportedly going to release its sophomore album next spring, although the band has not yet entered the studio or chosen a producer.
