Bon Jovi and Bill Clinton unveil habitat for humanity plant in Philadelphia
Former US president Bill Clinton appeared with Bon Jovi on Thursday (October 4th) in Philadelphia, at a block of 15 vacant houses in a depressed neighborhood where the Bon Jovi video for "Who Says You Can't Go Home" was shot, to unveil ambitious new renovation plans. Working with Habitat for Humanity, the North Philadelphia rowhouses will be renovated using funds donated by the band and corporations.Bon Jovi was also announced as the first-ever "Habitat Ambassador" in the newly created Habitat for Humanity Ambassador program.
Frontman Jon previously told us that he is more inspired by doing good in the community, rather that just promoting his own musical career: "Building a medical clinic, which I did in my home town, becoming involved in the team to build playgrounds at foster homes and put beds in Covenant Houses and stuff like that, giving money to disaster relief, giving back... That's the kind of stuff that's inspiring me now. It's not about, 'Hey man, we got a new record out. This is a rock band!' Yech!"
Bon Jovi's "Who Says You Can't Go Home," which they recorded with singer Jennifer Nettles from the country act Sugarland, is up for Music Event Of The Year at the upcoming Country Music Association Awards. "Who Says You Can't Go Home" was a Number One hit on the country chart. The CMA Awards will be given out November 6th.
