Boston to salute Doug Flutie in November
The members of Boston will be on hand to celebrate quarterback Doug Flutie next month in Boston. The former Boston College and Canadian Football League star, who also played for the hometown New England Patriots, will be given the Red, White & Blue Award "for his unyielding support of the Boston community" at Symphony Hall on November 13th. Boston founder and guitarist Tom Scholz said, "At a time when so many people in the spotlight are a glaring disappointment, Doug Flutie is a breath of fresh air, and a reminder that that there are still real heroes in the world you can look up to." Proceeds from the event will go to the Doug Flutie, Jr. Foundation For Autism.
Also performing at the event, which will also officially mark Flutie's retirement from football, will be the Boston Pops orchestra, with conductor Keith Lockhart.
The city of Boston has designated November 13th as "Doug Flutie Day."
