Classical album of White Stripes sets release date
A collection of classical music versions of White Stripes songs, called Aluminium, has set a new release date of November 6th in the U.K., according to NME.com. Ten Stripes tunes, including "The Hardest Button To Button," "Let's Build A Home" and "I'm Bound To Pack It Up" receive an avant-garde orchestral treatment from an assembly of young British classical players. The record will be released in a limited run of 3,333 copies on CD and 999 copies on vinyl.
The album will be available for order exclusively at alumiiinium.com, beginning on November 6th.
Choreographer Wayne McGregor will use some of the songs in a ballet he created for the Royal Ballet to be staged in London next fall.
Aluminium was recorded between August 2005 and February 2006 at Intimate Studios in London.
The White Stripes are currently on hiatus while frontman Jack White tours with his other band, the Raconteurs. That group will open a series of U.S. dates for Bob Dylan in November.
