Clip from U2/Green Day appears online
A clip from the video for U2 and Green Day's collaboration on "The Saints Are Coming" has surfaced on YouTube and MTV.com. The segment shows the two bands recording the song, originally done by Scottish group the Skids, at London's Abbey Road Studios. The complete video mixes the studio sequences with newsreel footage of Hurricane Katrina, shots of Green Day and U2 touring New Orleans' devastated Ninth Ward, and footage of the two bands performing the song at the September 25th reopening of the city's Superdome. A spokesperson for U2's record label told MTV.com that the video could surface on the channel as early as this week, although there are no plans as of yet to make it available for download.
"The Saints Are Coming" will be included on U2's upcoming compilation album, U218 Singles, due out on November 21st.
The performance and recording of the song was aimed at raising funds for Music Rising, the charity led by U2 guitarist The Edge to replace instruments lost after Hurricane Katrina.
