Coldplay building recording studio
Coldplay is buying a building in London that the band plans to convert into a state-of-the-art recording studio. The property, located in the city's Hampstead district, will also serve as an office for the band's support staff and base of operations for the group when it begins recording the follow-up to 2005's X&Y album. Drummer Will Champion said earlier in the year that Coldplay wanted to set up its own headquarters, explaining, "In all of these years working together we haven't had an HQ, our own studio or anything like that. We want somewhere where we can hole up and see what happens."
Coldplay has not yet announced plans to begin recording its fourth studio effort, but reps recently denied tabloid rumors that the band was planning to take a five-year hiatus.
The quartet's members have been spending time with their families since coming off the road earlier this year, with three of the four having children in the past six months.
