Don Henley named MusiCares Person Of The Year

Don Henley has been named the 2007 MusiCares Person Of The Year. The singer and drummer for the Eagles is being honored for his range of charitable work, as well as his efforts on behalf of artists' rights. The honor will be presented to him by the MusiCares Foundation and The Recording Academy, and proceeds from the event at the Los Angeles Convention Center on February 9th, 2007 will help provide assistance for music industry professionals in times of need. The night will include a silent auction of memorabilia, a dinner, the award presentation, and an all-star tribute concert.

Recording Academy and MusiCares President Neil Portnow said, "Don is one of the most relevant and respected musical voices of our time, and it is a fitting testament to his extraordinary talents and charitable work that he will be honored as the MusiCares Person Of The Year."

Henley and his Eagles bandmates were in New York City for a private show on Tuesday, October 24th for Wal-Mart executives and their guests. The group is expected to announce an exclusive deal with the retailer soon.
