Evanescence New York show a homecoming for singer Amy Lee
Evanescence performed in New York City on Monday night (October 9th), marking the band's first Big Apple concert appearance since 2004. But the event also served as singer Amy Lee's first live show in her adopted hometown. Lee moved to Manhattan last spring after living in Los Angeles for five years, telling us why she made the move: "I think the people in New York are just really real, and it's a completely different thing to walk around everywhere and there's just, like, a neighborhood, and not have to, like, drive my car. I just, like, kind of got rid of my car and all my stuff and packed it up. I don't know, I just, like, hit a point in my life where I really wanted to change everything, and I moved to New York and I totally started over and I'm feeling great about it." Lee is originally from Little Rock, Arkansas, where Evanescence was formed.
New bassist Tim McCord is making his debut on the band's current tour, which stoped in Washington D.C. on Wednesday, October 11th.
The Open Door is widely expected to debut at Number One on the Billboard Top 200 when the final figures are revealed later today, with first-week sales likely to end up around the 400,000 range. The CD arrived in stores last Tuesday (October 3rd).
