Got $37.5m? Billy Joel selling mansion
Billy Joel is putting his Oyster Bay, Long Island mansion up for sale. The Associated Press reported that Joel is asking for $37.5 million for the house, which he bought in 2002 for $22.5 million. The 40,000-square-foot brick, gabled house overlooking Oyster Bay Harbor includes "five bedrooms with three full baths, three half-baths and eight fireplaces on 14.26 acres with 1,550 feet of shoreline on (Long Island's) Oyster Bay."
The house includes a gym, a bowling alley, tennis courts, a wine cellar, and both an outdoor and indoor pool. The property also features a guest cottage and pool house by the beach.
Joel's spokesman told Newsday that Joel was only saying goodbye to the property, not to Long Island: "Billy is a Long Islander and still maintains a property in Sag Harbor."
Billy Joel will next perform on October 26th in Johannesburg, South Africa. His only remaining U.S. show for 2006 will be on December 16th Honolulu at the Blaisdell Arena.
