Incubus letting fans film video at private show
Incubus played a private concert for fans in San Francisco on Friday, October 20th as part of a promotional campaign with Verizon Wireless. Fans who attended the show and own Verizon V Cast music phones were encouraged to record footage on their phones of the band performing its new single, "Anna Molly." Guitarist Mike Einziger told us what will happen with the footage after that: "All these kids are using these Verizon phones to record pieces of our show, and all of the footage that these kids take with these phones will be posted onto some type of web site, and the kids will have the opportunity to edit and make their own videos from the show, from all these different kids filming from different places and angles."
The fan-created videos will premiere on YouTube, Yahoo! Music and the V Cast service.
Fans were able to win tickets through radio contests in 14 cities, or by purchasing an LG Chocolate phone at selected Verizon Wireless stores in the San Francisco area.
"Anna Molly" comes off the band's new album, Light Grenades, which arrives on November 28th.
Incubus will begin a theatre tour on January 5th in Vancouver, Canada, with shows booked through February 11th in Los Angeles.
Incubus will also appear on the latest edition of the VH1 Classic series Decades Rock Live, joining Garbage vocalist Shirley Manson, Kings Of Leon and Iggy Pop in a tribute to the Pretenders. The show, which was taped earlier this year, premiered on Friday at 8 p.m.
