Jet singer's recovery from laryngitis turns expensive
Jet's brief North American tour in support of its new Shine On album hit some turbulence last week when frontman Nic Cester was struck with acute laryngitis, forcing the band to cancel two of its shows. Cester recovered in time to finish the trek, but bassist Mark Wilson and guitarist Cameron Muncey jokingly told us that his recuperation came with a price: (Wilson) "He had to rest for five days, he couldn't..." (Muncey) "He's actually passed." (Wilson) "He's passed away (laughs). No, he's better, you know. They gave him some special things for his throat and he came good, which is brilliant, you know. But he had to stay in his hotel room in New York for five or six days, he wasn't allowed to leave, so he clocked up about two thousand dollars on his room service bill."
One of the two shows the band had to cancel, in Philadelphia, has been rescheduled for November, when the group will kick off a full U.S. tour.
The band performed on last Friday's (October 6th) edition of Jimmy Kimmel Live.
Shine On, Jet's sophomore effort, arrived in stores last Tuesday (October 3rd) and features the single "Put Your Money Where Your Mouth Is." The disc is expected to debut on the Billboard album chart on Wednesday, October 11th, with first-week sales in the range of 50 to 60,000 copies.
