Jimmy Buffett busted by French customs for ecstasy tablets
Jimmy Buffett was detained at a French airport last week, for possession of more than 100 tabs of ecstasy, AOL Music News reports. The singer was detained, but not arrested, at the Toulon-Hyeres International Airport, after customs officials searched the suitcases on his private jet.
Unlike in the U.S., where he would have been arrested and possibly faced significant jail time, he was only fined 300 euros, which is about $380. He then continued on toward his planned vacation in St. Tropez.
Buffett's spokeswoman has denied that the tablets were illegal, saying there were only 20 tablets, and that they were of a physician-prescribed medication.
Buffett's latest album, Take The Weather With You, will be released on Tuesday (October 10th.)
