Jimmy Eat World pokes fun at Killers/Tom DeLonge flap

Jimmy Eat World frontman Jim Adkins injected himself into a little flap between Angels And Airwaves frontman Tom DeLonge and Killers singer Brandon Flowers last week, according to Aversion.com. Adkins wrote on the blog at Jimmy Eat World's official Web site that the band was currently working on its new album, adding, "I have to say, we are making the best album anyone has heard in 21 years." The line was a reference to both DeLonge and Flowers calling their own recently released CDs the best rock albums of the past 20 years, with DeLonge accusing Flowers last week on MTV.com of copying his boast.

Adkins helpfully included a link to the DeLonge story on MTV.com to make sure people got his joke.

Jimmy Eat World is recording its next, yet-to-be-titled album with producer and Garbage drummer Butch Vig. The new effort will follow 2004's Futures.

Based on their respective reviews, neither the Killers' Sam's Town nor Angels And Airwaves' We Don't Need To Whisper seem likely to win the "best rock album in 20 years" prize.
