Keith Richards sets record straight about the head injury

Keith Richards has shed some new light on his fall from a palm tree last spring in Fiji, which led to him requiring brain surgery. Richards, who's been given a clean bill of health and is now back on the road with the Rolling Stones, said that reports stating he was drunk and fell 17 feet out of the palm tree while reaching for a coconut have all been wrong.

He explained to Rolling Stone that, "It's embarrassing, really. I was sitting on this gnarled shrub about six feet off the ground. I was wet -- I'd been swimming. I hit the ground the wrong way, my head hit the trunk, and that was that."

Richards went on to describe the incident as, "just a little stumble along the way.... It's not the first brush with death I've had. I guess what I learned is, don't sit in trees anymore."

The Rolling Stones performed on October 5th, in Regina, Saskatchewan at Taylor Field.
