The Killers begin North American tour
The Killers kicked off their first North American tour in support of their newly released second album, Sam's Town, on Friday, October 6th, in Los Angeles. Frontman Brandon Flowers told us that the band has been working on a stage show that he hopes will bring the new songs to life in concert: "We feel like these songs deserve to be seen and heard. So it's gonna be really fun, hopefully, to come see a Killers show, and it's, you know, we want it to be an adventure, and we're working on that. It's almost gonna be like futuristic fairgrounds. I've been saying it's like Josey Wales meets Han Solo."
Josey Wales was the character that Clint Eastwood played in the 1976 Western, The Outlaw Josey Wales.
Sam's Town, which came out on Tuesday (October 3rd), is expected to debut at Number Two on the Billboard Top 200 next week, with sales of more than 300,000 copies projected.
Flowers told us last week that he was not happy with some of the early, negative reviews of the disc, saying they were "just discouraging."
Some critics have suggested that the band blatantly ripped off Bruce Springsteen on the album's first single, "When You Were Young."
Meanwhile, Brandon Flowers revealed to GQ magazine that he once accidentally hit someone with his car and does not know to this day if he killed the person. Flowers said, "I was going about 50, he was drunk, he just walked into my lane on the freeway. I was honking and hitting the breaks but I couldn't stop in time...They never told me what happened to him."
